We all want to be funny…
But did you know 99% of comedians workshop & test their jokes before performing a full routine.
Most are not born that funny. They’ve got to work hard at it.
They’ll show up unannounced at small town gigs for free & test their new material.
Sometimes the new jokes will crash & burn. But others will fly making the audience cry with laughter.
Always by their side is a notebook, where they’ll highlight which jokes & stories got the biggest laughs, whilst crossing out the ones that bombed.
It can take months of writing, testing & refining. Before they’re ready to launch a new routine & advertise it to the paying public.
Comedians do this to maintain & enhance their reputation. Making sure their material will deliver laughs to increase their paying fan base & ultimately their earning potential.
Imagine if they didn’t. I don’t think they’d get many paying customers at their shows…
Most organisations are much the same as comedians. We don’t mean having to work hard to be funny. We mean they should market test new products for quality, price & demand before launch.
When we develop a new print technology solution, we’ll release it to our customers, listen to the feedback & refine it if required. Helping us to be certain of its readiness for launch to its target market.
We’ve certainly learned a few things from the comedians.
…although we’re still not that funny.
