How some start-ups go on to become extremely successful has always intrigued me…
I mean companies like Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft & even electric car titan Tesla.
So, when I came across ‘Zero to One’ by Peter Thiel I was extremely pleased.
But I’m not sure if you know who Peter Thiel is?
He’s co-founder of PayPal, Palantir Technologies & Founders Fund, all of which grew to be worth billions. As well as being an early investor in Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook.
It’s fair to say he knows his subject matter.
‘Zero to One’ is simply about what he’s done multiples of times. Taking a start-up from zero to be worth over a billion dollars.
Thiel takes you from creating the initial idea and founding team, to finding the right investment partners, and in some instances deciding if it’s the right time to sell.
He talks a lot about PayPal, and the team they created have gone on to do fantastic things. Creating billion-dollar companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, YouTube & LinkedIn.
Thiel spends his money investing in entrepreneurs, but believes any opportunity worth his investment, must potentially deliver a 10X return and have a rock-solid founder’s team.
It’s slanted to the tech industry, as it’s Thiel’s specialism, but don’t let that put you off. If your interested in how start-ups and VC’s worth together, go give it a read.
‘Zero to One’ gets a thumbs up & 5 stars.
