So, at COP26 one hundred world leaders have promised to end and reverse deforestation by 2030…
The pledge includes almost £14 billion of public and private funds.
Experts welcomed the move but warned a previous deal in 2014 had “failed to slow deforestation at all” and commitments needed to be delivered on.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“We have to stop the devastating loss of our forests and end the role of humanity as nature’s conqueror, and instead become nature’s custodian”.
Felling trees contributes to climate change because it depletes forests that absorb vast amounts of the warming gas CO2.
Besides stopping this tree felling practise, planting millions of trees across the globe (in our opinion) is a sure-fire way to help our planet survive and recover.
With the help of our mental health charity partner Shiva Trust and our customers, we’ve been re-foresting our own part of the world (Rossendale) and have created a new office technology forest of over 3,000 trees.
Why are we doing this?
- To help reverse climate change and de-forestation, in our own small way
- To support Shiva Trust in mentoring young people suffering from mental health
- To thank our customers for purchasing from us their office technology solutions
During October, our customers signed up to 13 new office technology solutions including our home printing solution, our free office copier technology, and our fixed price internet office phone system.
Each of these customers will now get a tree planted at Shiva Trust on their behalf and a personalised certificate printed and posted to them to display, showing where their tree is planted.
If you need to reduce your office technology costs and would like to work with an organisation who takes mentoring our young people and environmental responsibility seriously.
