Is it now a world gone social?
For some time, I’ve been a big advocator of the death of traditional advertising and for that matter, traditional ways large organisations do business.
Small organisations (like us) have an opportunity to create a visible strong brand presence if they embrace social.
I’m not just talking about social media either. Social media is just one part of the whole social way of doing business, and I believe companies must adapt to survive.
It’s about changing your whole way of doing business, both inside and outside, being open and transparent to both team members and customers.
Showing them who you really are and not hiding behind corporate guidelines, scripted responses, or automated chat bots.
It’s about being human in how you engage through operating flat structures, which give your team the space and responsibility to help drive the business forward in this new social world.
‘A World Gone Social’ by Ted Coine & Mark Babbitt sums it all up for me.
What’s amazing, it was written 7 years ago in 2014. The writers had the foresight back then, to see how organisations will need to change to operate in this new social world.
I’ll admit, the pandemic has slowed the move to social first organisations. But as we come out of Covid the drive towards socially focused ways of doing business will certainly accelerate.
If you want to build a socially enabled team that puts the customer first, this is a book for you.
‘A World Gone Social’ gets a thumbs up and 5 stars.
