Munger is Buffett’s right-hand man, and Buffett is very open to say Munger is as instrumental in Berkshire Hathaway’s success as himself. But Munger keeps a lower profile.
For those that don’t know, Berkshire Hathaway invests in company shares on international stock markets, and is widely known as the most successful investment company period.
And Munger has helped fuel this success using 4 simple investment principles:
- It must be a business you are capable of understanding.
- It must have some intrinsic characteristics giving it a durable competitive advantage.
- The business should have management with integrity and talent.
- The business should be available for a fair price with a sufficient margin of safety.
‘Invested’ is the story of Danielle Town (a corporate attorney) who wanted to find financial freedom in a reasonable time frame to enjoy her life, rather than work 80-hour weeks.
With the help of her author and investor father (Phil Town), Danielle sets out on a journey to understand the financial markets and learn how to apply Charlie Mungers 4 investment principles, to create her own investment portfolio and ultimately find financial freedom.
Do you know what? It’s a cracking book. One of the best I’ve read this year.
Some of the previous investment type books I’ve read are complicated and if you’re not trained in financials are hard to follow.
But Danielle breaks things down into easy-to-understand terms, whilst taking you on a world wind journey, where she reconnects with her father and finds her future husband.
Didn’t think I would, but I really enjoyed it, and anyone who wants to understand the basics of how stock markets and investing works, must read this book.
