Are you a red, blue, yellow, or Green?
No. I’m not talking about football or M&M’s. I’m taking about humans.
More specifically human behaviour, and how to understand those who cannot be understood.
Those a little older (like me) will remember disc profiling (developed in 1928 by psychologist William Moulton).
But I don’t know about you? I always found disc profiling a little complicated, boring, and something difficult to remember when sat across the table in a meeting.
Colour coding humans into four colours and giving each a defined personality trait is much easier to get your head around, fun and rememberable.
Making ‘Surrounded by Idiots’ a terrific book and an extremely useful business tool.
The author (Thomas Erikson) is a Swedish behavioural expert and has developed a sure-fire winning formula.
Initially the book details each colours behavioural traits and then tells a series of stories, to show you how each colour reacts in different situations.
Yes, you can be a mix of two or more colours, but one is usually more dominant than the others. Although green tends to be more of an equal mix of all three colours.
Personally, I think I’m red with a slattering of yellow. But I’m not going to tell you the traits of each colour, you’ll have to read the book to find out.
Remember though, next time we meet, I’ll be watching you closely to decide your colour, so I can work out how to get you to pay for lunch.
‘Surrounded by Idiots’ gets a thumbs up with five stars
