One thing I’ve learnt whilst in business…
Is to control the controllable & except the uncontrollable.
What do I mean by this?
if you let everything outside of your control dictate your performance, you will lose every time.
A better practice is to focus on the areas you and your team have control.
There are many things outside of your control in business. 2 immediate things spring to mind. Brexit & Covid. You can add globalisation & climate change as uncontrollable too.
The important thing is not to get overwhelmed. Change will always be a constant and you cannot control everything.
If you master the art of controlling the things which are controllable, you’ll have a platform for sustained growth in any economy.
So, what’s controllable?
- Creating a compelling business purpose – a WHY
- Understanding where you can make a profound difference
- Creating a compelling value proposition
- Placing the customer at the epicentre of your thinking
- Develop disruptive products
- Become a thought leader in your industry through innovate marketing
- Create predictable, repeatable results in your business
- Develop a people strategy to build & keep the right team
- Deliver operational excellence as the norm
…and finally. Be an understanding & inspirational leader to motivate your team
