We lost a team member because of change …
It was not long after our business transformation into an office technology solutions business, and it was because they couldn’t change as the business changed.
It wasn’t because of a lack of training or support, as the whole team pitched in and tried to help them adapt to our new world.
They’re heart wasn’t in it & they just accepted the new role wasn’t what they wanted to do.
I wasn’t upset or angry.
I respected them more than ever, for having the courage to come to terms with the situation & do the right thing.
It turned into a positive for both of us.
They took a role within their comfort zone, which made them happy. Which I’m pleased about. We still bump into each other occasionally and talk about business & life.
We brought in a general manager to help the team run the daily operation, relieving the pressure following my illness & letting me concentrate on strategy & direction.
To be honest, there comes a time, you’ve got to admit you’re not superman, and to trust others. Read more about it in our book, available here.
…the team do a much better job running the business than I could ever have imagined.
