Warren Buffett (CEO of Berkshire Hathaway) famously said about recessions…
“When the tide goes out, you see who was swimming naked.”
My father-in-law once said:
“When you go wading in the sea, make sure you wear your wellies.”
I’m not sure he meant it in the same guise as Warren Buffett (I’ll let you decide), but fundamentally it means the same thing in relation to business.
If something dramatic (strategic inflection point) happens out side of your control, you’ve got to have a plan ready to go.
When the financial crisis struck in 2008, we didn’t have a plan or a real vision to be achieved.
And we struggled on for a couple of years, doing the same old things.
Slowly our business was eroding, and we were close to the point of no return, when realisation struck.
Luckily (with some extra help and years of hard-work by our team) we got ourselves back on track.
Today we’re ready, with a plan & clear vision in place, ‘to make office technology affordable to all’.
Don’t get stuck in shock and desperation.
