May and June saw 22 additional trees planted in our quest to help reverse climate change and deforestation.
We plant a tree for each new office technology agreement, which then forms part of our customers corporate social responsibility program (CSR), with a certificate to prove the planting.
Yes, we really do plant the trees, it’s no carbon offsetting gimmick.
To manage the project, we enlist the help of Rossendale charity Shiva Trust who operate a wellbeing centre at Meadows Farm and Animal Sanctuary in Water, just off the Rossendale Way.
The charity benefits in two ways. The tree planting is part of their wellbeing program, getting the people they work with involved with nature, and for each tree planted they receive a donation.
The back story:
Meadows Farm & Animal Sanctuary in Water (Rossendale) was created by charity Shiva Trust, based on the idea of Social Farming.
The farm remains a typical working farm where people in need of support can benefit from participation in the farm’s activities. It also reconnects farmers with their local communities.
It provides sanctuary for rescued animals, natural habitats for wildlife, and space for environment projects.
It’s also a wonderful safe environment, and an amazing support for team members and volunteers to get involved with nature to develop their physical and mental fitness.
We’re proud to be involved with Shiva Trust at Meadows Farm, and together (with the help of our customers) we have planted 3,000 trees.
…doing this is helping the environment and Shiva Trust in a small and affordable way.
