Have you ever thought you might live next door to a millionaire?
Well. You might be surprised to learn. Most millionaires live very normal lives. Don’t drive fancy cars & don’t dress in designer gear.
On the flip side. Most that do drive fancy cars & wear designer gear are probably not millionaires. As research shows they have little savings & spend all they earn.
Today’s business book review ‘The Millionaire Next Door’ explodes the theory that most millionaires live a flashy extravagant lifestyle.
Back in the day, this book (by Thomas Stanley & William Danko) was a US national best seller.
And yes, the research undertaken in all US based. But I’m pretty sure the fundamentals remain the same for the UK & other western economies.
You’ve got wealthy individuals worth millions like sports stars, film stars & rock stars. But most millionaires in a country are self-made, through hard work & frugality.
There I said it. You can become a millionaire through shear hard work and being very careful with where and on what you spend your money.
Most millionaires buy 2nd hand cars and keep them for years. They buy unbranded clothes & don’t go on fancy expensive holidays.
Hell. I’m probably packing my groceries next to them most weeks in ALDI.
It’s an eye-opening book, making you realise what can be achieved from working & saving hard.
And provides a different spin on marketing products & services to the affluent, because it highlights the affluent aren’t who you think.
‘The Millionaire Next Door’ gets a 👍 & ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
