Why should you think Win Win?
why think win win

Following Friday’s business book review of Stephen Covey’s ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ and as promised…

This week I’m going to delve deeper into his ‘Think Win Win’ habit. It’s a fascinating subject and will help anybody in all walks of life and business.

Part one covers Win / Win:

Stephen believes. Win / Win is not a technique. It’s a philosophy of human interaction. It’s one of six outcomes of interaction. The others are Win / Lose, Lose / Win, Lose / Lose, Win, or No Deal.

Win / Win is a frame of mind and heart that seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. Win / Win means that agreements or solutions mutually benefit both parties.

Most people tend to think strong or weak, black or white, win or lose. But this kind of thinking is flawed. It’s based on power and position rather than principle.

Win / Win is based on a model that there is plenty for everyone. Meaning one person’s success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others.

With a Win / Win solution all parties feel good about the decision and feel committed to the action plan, seeing life as a cooperative rather than a competitive arena.

Win / Win is a belief which takes all parties worth, feelings and interest into consideration. It’s not your way or my way. It’s a better way. A higher way.

…tomorrow we’ll cover Win / Lose. Thank you for watching and stay tuned.
