Think I’ve just found the oracle on AI technology…

Dr Kai-Fu Lee has held executive positions at Microsoft and Apple and was president of Google China before they withdrew.

He now leads a technology investment company (Sinovation Ventures) which straddles both the U.S. and Chinese markets.

Lee is one of the world’s most respected experts on AI and is in the unique position of understanding where the U.S. and China sit in the global AI domination race.

His book ‘AI Super – Powers’ is one of the most thought-provoking books I’ve ever read.

The worrying thing, most of what Lee says will probably happen, maybe not in the exact time frame being suggested, but certainly in the not-too-distant future.

Being involved in an electric vehicle charge point installation company, I was interested to see his views on autonomous vehicles and the future of electric charging.

Lee paints a picture of cities of the future being designed around autonomous vehicles and facial recognition payments systems, complete with photovoltaic induction charging roads.

But he also cites a warning. The large corporations will win – like Uber – who will use future AI technology to remove the need for drivers, which will hugely increase their profitability.

Lee provides a clear description which jobs will be affected and how soon. But also, how we can provide solutions to some of the most monumental changes in human history.

It’s a great book and has left me with many unanswered questions, which are swirling around in my head, thinking how we can adapt to an AI controlled world.
