When ‘The Beatles‘ auditioned for Decca Records, their executive allegedly said:
‘Not to mince words Mr Epstein, we don’t like your boys’ sound. Groups are out. 4-piece groups with guitars particularly are finished.’
Apple‘s Steve Jobs once said:
‘It’s really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of the time people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.’
When we first launched monthly subscriptions with guaranteed prices, both our team and customers were sceptical.
Even though it was a win win (saving customers up to 60% & securing us their loyalty) it’s taken time to be accepted.
People are often averse to the unknown, and don’t realise the potential of a product or idea, until they have used it over time.
And many people tend to concentrate on why products or ideas won’t work, rather than see what potential they have, to solve problems, save money or excite.
You can bet, once the product or idea has been implemented and received positive feedback, the same people will then say, it’s great.
It’s just a shame it’s too late for Decca Records.
…I wonder what ever happened to that executive?
