Trade is extremely tough for most, us included…
But some industries are surprisingly thriving. Take skips. (No. Not those lovely prawn cocktail snacks) waste skips.
Whilst my wife’s (hopeful) temporally at home with the kids, she’s been trying to find things to do. Which has meant a massive spring clean of the house and garden.
Creating a mountain of mainly garden waste, only to find the refuse centre (tip) had closed.
Then she had the idea of a skip. And not really thinking I rubbished (excuse the pun) the idea, saying they’d be closed as most construction work has stopped.
But what do men know and how wrong was I…
On phoning Shadlock Skips in Bacup (Rossendale in Lancashire). The owner said they’d never been as busy. Not with construction work. With the general public.
With refuse centres (tips) closed. They’d gambled & stopped open. Believing those at home will spring clean & work on their gardens.
It seems their gamble has paid off handsomely, as the general public are ordering skips (remember, not the snack) like no tomorrow.
We’re only allowed a skip for a few days because the demand is so high.
There’s a pivot if I ever saw one!
Don’t forget. We’re out with the skip people too…
