You probably know who these people are in your industry. Their names come up in conversations & they seem to attract opportunities.

Industry influencers enjoy a special status in their chosen field, because they are well connected, well known, well regarded & others look to them for advice.

Influencers are always in high demand. Invited to be interviewed for industry articles and asked to speak at conferences & industry events. They don’t chase opportunities. Opportunities find them.

Bill Gates was guided by a vision to put a computer on every office desktop and in every home.

Mark Zuckerberg has recently updated his vision to support Facebook’s future: ‘A privacy-focused messaging and social networking platform, where people can communicate securely’.

There’s plenty of people who’ve been in an industry for years, yet don’t influence it. But It’s not difficult to become an influencer, if you’re willing to break out of your comfort zone.
