The right support team is so crucial in making sure things get done on time, and in the order you need them too.
Take our friend Challenge Rich (Richard Smith), who has taken on the monumental task of riding on a Penny Farthing, all the way from Lands End to John O’Groats.
Yes that’s impressive…
What’s even more impressive…
Along the way he’s trying to break a WORLD RECORD that has stood for 131 years, by completing the ride in under 5 days, as well as raising over £10,000 for Children in Need.
But, the only way he can succeed is by having a great support crew, who will make sure he’s fed, watered, rested, massaged, encouraged, motivated and kept on course.
Yes, Challenge Rich, has also got to be focused, pig headed, determined and single minded in his quest to break the record and raise the £10,000.
But, he still can’t do it alone…
Who’s going to drive the camper, who’s going to join him on the ride to lift his spirits, who going to hold the collection buckets, who’s going to brew up, who’s going to organise the food and who’s going to keep them on track?
We’ve been watching his progress and cheering him on. Have you?
The first stage was a long slog and mainly uphill, taking over 19 hours to cover 152 miles. Challenge Rich and the support team are well chuffed with this, as it’s 2 hours ahead of schedule.
Stage 2 is much longer, 196 miles all the way up to Knutsford, and was expected to take around 20 hours.
After some food and just 3 hours sleep Challenge Rich, and the support team, hit the road at about 8pm last night, and are still going!
It seems the route has much more hills than expected, and their average speed is greatly reduced.
The support team have really kicked into action, and reassessed the situation. Challenge Rich has had to reduce his breaks down to just 10 minutes to make up time, and is unlikely to get much sleep, if any, until they reach John O’Groats.
What a team they are, and they have made us look at ourselves, to assess the support we provide to our customers on the services we provide to them. Services such as Infinity printing, free & leased photocopiers and telephone cost reducing services such as Cloud Talk, all need an excellent aftercare service, with defined service levels and response times.
Just like Challenge Rich’s support team are providing to him…
Rich needs his breaks on time, his coffee on time, his cake on time and his sleep (if he manages to get any) on time.
This is a once in a life time challenge, in fact once in 131 years.
