We thought we had the right settled team, then boom…
2 people handed in their notice within days of each other, although it was for completely different reasons & unrelated.
The 1st had dreamed of running their own business for years & decided to start a home-based travel business. Which was fantastic, and we wished them well.
The 2nd (although more than capable) just didn’t seem to want to change or improve & push outside their comfort zone, for their own & the companies benefit.
It’d been 2 years since we’d transformed into an office technology business, and it came out of the blue.
They ended up taking an internal marketing position within an existing customer with less responsibility & pressure, remaining a good friend to us.
Since then, it’s been great to see they’ve pushed on, and gone back into the field. Hopefully, some of the things they learned with us, helped them to eventually change and break through the barriers holding them back.
In the past, situations like this would engulf me with fear, leaving me isolated and totally alone. But through experience & teamwork, we’ve learnt to turn them to our advantage.
Changing the structure, promoting a well deserving team member & bringing in 2 new ones (with the right values of course) to better support our customers.
Don’t get me wrong, we were all sad they left!
…but change is opportunity & should be embraced.
