What did we do when super super-markets & internet shopping first appeared?
Well. We lost 50% of our walk-in trade because of convenience, not price.
So, we started delivering.
Not just deliveries to home users, also to business, schools, and any other organisations.
And I liken that time to the current situation…
Due to the closure of retail, lots of people and business have had to resort to even more internet shopping.
Yes. Some will revert to physical shopping again. But some won’t. Some will be converted to 100% internet shopping, while others will adopt a hybrid model of a bit of both.
Local businesses shouldn’t see this as a threat. They should see it as an opportunity to change as the market has forced buying habit to change.
People will still prefer to buy local & support local businesses, if the right buying experience is available for their own personal situation.
Why can’t local stores like Grocers, bakers, butchers, and independent clothes stores offer deliveries?
Basic websites are for this sort of stuff are more affordable today. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be done via a website.
A well-designed leaflet with products and prices posted through letterboxes in your local area, will get the phone ringing too.
It’s the same for us. Change again. Which is great. Because it presents opportunity.
In our industry we’ve got lots more home workers. So, we’ve developed home printing solutions, phone systems that work off an app & a home working stationery pack.
They do say. Everything eventually goes full circle.
…and more deliveries seems to be our new normal.
