There is something fishy (or maybe it should be caky?) going down at the Cake Nest, and we are on a service mission to find out what…
Just for those of you who don’t yet know the Cake Nest. It was created by 2 fantastical people, Stephen & Abigail Phillips and they make wonderfully tasting cakes that fit through your letterbox. Yes, that’s right ‘letter box cakes’ for all occasions. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, christenings, corporate events and pretty much any other occasion you can think of.
It’s not just a novel idea, but a unique service and great business model too.
Yes, we’ve used them on a number of occasions for our wedding anniversary, our 7 year old’s birthday and I even secretly used them for valentines day this year (I know what your thinking, and no I don’t have a secret mistress. It was to surprise my beautiful wife. Honest!).
And on each occasion the service was excellent. The product (cake) came on time, was very well packaged, tasted amazing and most important. It brought a smile and moment of happiness to those that received it.
Anyway I digress and yes, there is definitely something fishy (caky) going on down at the Cake Nest…
Not to long ago Steve & Abi encountered a few issues with their internal printing solution. In the first instance, it was costing them way too much. But actually and more importantly to them, it’s limited functionality was holding them back.
We’ve known Steve for quite a while now (and because he trusted us), he asked us to come down and carry-out 1 of our free printing assessments. After which, it was quickly agreed that the Cake Nest needed a photocopier, which has reduced their costs by 60%, given them many new functions and massively increased their internal efficiency. Now they can print off personally designed thank you letters & offers, their own leaflets, posters and booklets all on demand.
And it was during a recent visit to carry out a routine service on the photocopier, that our technical manager (Paul Bolton) got roped into a special tasting event.
Now, it wasn’t just any old tasting, this was different. It wasn’t CAKE!
Yes, that’s right, astounding isn’t it?
I bet you can’t guess what it was?
Okay, I give in. It was PIES!. Yes pies…
What we don’t know though, is what kind of pies (sweet, savory, square, round, full pastry, lattice, deep or thin) or even what the Cake Nest plan to do with these pies.
And yes, we’ve interrogated Paul. But he’s been sworn to secrecy. We’ve even tried tickling his bare feet with feathers. But the only thing we got out of him, is No 3 was the best!
Steve just laughed when we confronted him about it, and simply said “there will be an exciting announcement very soon. Watch this space”…
