When steam power allowed us to overcome the limitations of muscle power (human and animal) and generate massive amounts of useful energy as will.

This led to factories and mass production, to railways and mass transportation, modern life if you like. It was the first time our progress was driven by technological innovation.

Erik Brynjolfsson & Andrew McAfee believe we are at the beginning of a new revolution, which will change our way of life as much the industrial one did.

‘The Second Machine Age’ focuses on AI technology on how new ground-breaking digital technologies will change our economy.

Discussing how we’ll have to develop new business models, new technologies and new policies that will amplify our human capabilities.

Also addressing the question of what will happen in the future to the workforce, as AI technologies become ever more complex and able to carry out many existing functions.

It’s a scary subject, but as with the industrial revolution (where mass unemployment was a real fear too,) we’ll find ways for the workforce to survive and elevate itself to another level.

Understanding the future of technology, business and life is not for everyone, but I love this kind of stuff and can’t get enough of it. If you’re like me, you’ll love it too.
